Most patients who book a mole removal consultation with me have already done the difficult thinking. They have decided they want the mole removed. The question they actually want answered, and the question most clinics avoid printing on their websites, is simple. How much will this cost?
As a practising Aesthetic Physician based in Bahria Town Phase 8, Rawalpindi, I am going to give you that answer honestly. I will tell you what mole removal actually costs in Pakistan, what you are paying for, what changes the final price, what red flags to watch for in suspiciously cheap quotes, and how to know whether the figure you have been given is fair.
The short answer first
At my clinic, mole removal starts at PKR 5,000 per mole. The final cost depends on the size of the mole, the method used, whether more than one mole is being removed in the same session, and whether the tissue needs to be sent for histopathology.
Across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, prices for mole removal at registered medical clinics typically range between PKR 5,000 and PKR 25,000 per mole. Anything significantly below this range, particularly anything quoted under PKR 2,000, is almost always a parlour, an unlicensed practitioner, or a clinic cutting corners on safety.
What you are actually paying for
- The consultation. A registered doctor examining the mole with a dermatoscope, deciding whether it is safe to remove and which method will give the best cosmetic result.
- The local anaesthetic. Pharmaceutical-grade lignocaine, drawn fresh, injected by a doctor.
- The procedure itself. Use of a calibrated CO2 or Erbium laser, radiofrequency device, or surgical kit.
- Sterile consumables. Single-use surgical drapes, gauze, suture material, antibiotic ointment, and dressings.
- Aftercare and follow-up. Written aftercare, a follow-up review, and direct access to me if anything is not healing correctly.
- Histopathology, when indicated. If the mole warrants a pathologist’s opinion, the tissue is sent to a registered laboratory. The lab fee is separate and only charged when needed.
A clinic that quotes you PKR 1,500 for mole removal cannot be doing all of this. Something is being cut.
What changes the final price
Size of the mole
A 2 millimetre mole is straightforward. A 10 millimetre mole takes longer, requires more anaesthetic, and may need a different removal method. Larger moles cost more.
Depth of the mole
Some moles sit on the surface. Others extend deep into the dermis. Deeper moles either need surgical excision with stitches, or staged laser sessions, both of which cost more than a single quick laser pass.
Method used
Laser ablation, radiofrequency, and surgical excision each carry different costs. The cheapest is not always the right one for your specific mole.
Location on the body
Moles in cosmetically sensitive areas like the eyelid margin, lip line, or nostril edge require more time and care. Pricing reflects the technical difficulty.
Number of moles in one session
Removing several small moles in the same appointment is more efficient than separate visits, so the per-mole price typically reduces when you are doing three or more in one session.
Whether histopathology is needed
If a mole warrants a pathologist’s opinion, the tissue goes to a registered lab. This is an additional cost, typically PKR 3,000 to PKR 6,000 depending on the lab. I tell patients before the procedure if I think this will be needed.
Approximate pricing by removal method
- Laser ablation (CO2 or Erbium): PKR 5,000 to PKR 15,000 per mole.
- Radiofrequency removal: PKR 5,000 to PKR 10,000 per raised mole.
- Surgical excision: PKR 8,000 to PKR 25,000 per mole.
- Multiple small moles in one session: Per-mole pricing reduces when several are done together.
Why prices vary so much across clinics
Who performs the procedure. A registered doctor with formal training in aesthetic medicine costs more than a salon technician with a one-day course certificate. The technical skill, the medical judgement, and the legal accountability are all part of what you pay for.
The equipment. A genuine medical-grade CO2 or Erbium laser is a significant investment for a clinic. Cheap mole removal pens sold on Instagram cost a few thousand rupees and cannot deliver the same precision.
What the price actually includes. Some quotes are deliberately stripped down so the headline number looks attractive. Then on the day, the consultation, the anaesthetic, the dressing, and the follow-up are all billed separately. Always ask for a written all-inclusive quote.
Red flags in cheap pricing
- Mole removal quoted under PKR 2,000 per mole.
- No consultation needed, just walk in.
- Removal performed by anyone other than a registered doctor.
- Quotes that do not mention what method will be used.
- Pressure to remove multiple moles immediately without proper assessment.
- Removal at a parlour, salon, or beauty centre rather than a registered clinic.
What is included when you book with me
- Initial consultation with dermatoscope examination.
- Discussion of removal options and expected outcome for your specific mole.
- Local anaesthetic, the procedure itself, all sterile consumables and dressings.
- Written aftercare instructions and follow-up review.
- Direct WhatsApp access to me if anything during healing concerns you.
Histopathology, if needed, is the only item billed separately, and only because the lab fee is paid directly to the registered laboratory.
Insurance and payment
Cosmetic mole removal is not covered by health insurance in Pakistan. If a mole is being removed for medical reasons, your insurer may cover the procedure under your policy. We accept cash, card, and bank transfer.
Frequently asked questions
Why is mole removal cheaper at salons?
Because salons do not pay for medical training, medical-grade equipment, sterile consumables, or histopathology. The cheaper price reflects the absence of these things, not better value.
Will the price change after the consultation?
No. We confirm the all-inclusive price during the consultation, before any procedure is performed. The only exception is histopathology, which is always discussed with you first.
Do I pay for the consultation if I decide not to proceed?
A consultation fee applies to cover the doctor’s time and the dermatoscope assessment. If you proceed with removal in the same session, the consultation fee is included in the all-inclusive procedure price.
Is it cheaper to remove several moles at once?
Yes. The per-mole cost reduces when three or more small moles are removed in the same session.
How much extra is histopathology?
Lab fees typically range between PKR 3,000 and PKR 6,000 per sample, paid directly to the registered lab.
Are removal prices higher in Islamabad than Rawalpindi?
Slightly, on average, because of higher clinic overheads in Islamabad. Bahria Town Phase 8 clinics serve patients from both cities at consistent pricing.
Why does laser sometimes cost more than surgical excision?
Medical-grade lasers are expensive to maintain and calibrate. For small flat moles where laser gives a better cosmetic result, the slightly higher cost is justified by the outcome.
Can I get an estimate before coming in?
Yes. Send me a clear, well-lit photo of the mole on WhatsApp, with a coin or ruler beside it for size reference, and I will give you a likely price range and recommended method before you book.
The honest summary
Mole removal in Pakistan, done properly, costs between PKR 5,000 and PKR 25,000 per mole at a registered clinic, depending on the specifics. Anyone offering it for less is almost always missing something important. As a practising Aesthetic Physician, my position is straightforward: I would rather you book a transparent consultation, get an honest quote in writing, and proceed knowing exactly what you are paying for and why.
